Correction of common errors of Sentence – বাক্যের সাধারণ ভুল সংশোধন করা
1 . Subject Singular বা plural হলে Verb ও Singular বা Plural হবে। যেমনঃ
Incorrect: The boy ‘are’ playing
Correct : The boy ‘is’ playing.
Incorrect: The boys ‘is’ playing
Correct: The boys ‘are’ playing.
2. Subject third person singular number হলে Present Indefinite Tense এ Verb এর সাথে ‘s’ বা ‘es’যোগ করতে হয়। যেমনঃ
Incorrect: The boy ‘read’ a book.
Correct: The boy ‘reads’ a book .
Incorrect: He ‘go’ to school.
Correct: He ‘goes’ to school .
3. কোন Sentence এ যদি always, regularly, sometimes, often, generally,daily, everyday, occasionally, usually, normally ইত্যাদি থাকে তবে Sentence টির Present Indefinite Tense হয়। যেমনঃ
Incorrect: He always ‘read’ the Quran.
Correct: He always’reads’ the Quran.
Incorrect: She often ‘come’ here.
Correct: She often ‘comes’ here.
4. News, wages, physics. mathematics, politics, gallows ইত্যাদি শব্দ গুলো দেখতে Plural হলেও এদের পরে Verb Singular হয়। যেমনঃ
Incorrect: The news ‘are’ bad.
Correct: The news ‘is’ bad.
Incorrect: Mathematics are an interesting subject.
Correct: Mathematics is an interesting subject.

Right forms of Verbs – Subject Verb Agreement
5. Cattle, people, public, peasantry, police, poultry, gentry, ইত্যাদি subject গুলো দেখতে Singular হলেও এদের পরে Verb Plural হয়। যেমনঃ
Incorrect: Cattle ‘is’ grazing in the field.
Correct: Cattle ‘are’grazing in the field.
Incorrect: The police has caught the thieves.
Correct: The police ‘have’ caught the thieves.
6. কোন বাক্যে দুই বা দুইয়ের অধিক Subject ‘and’ দ্বারা যুক্ত হলে Subject এর পরে সাধারণত Plural Verb ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমনঃ
Incorrect: Five and five ‘makes’ ten.
Correct: Five and five ‘make’ ten.
Incorrect: Rahim and Karim ‘is’ playing.
Correct: Rahim and Karim ‘are’ playing.
7. And দ্বারা যুক্ত দুটি subject সমষ্টিগত একটি অর্থ বুঝালে ‘verb’ singular হয়। যেমনঃ
Incorrect: Slow and steady ‘win’ the race.
Correct: Slow and steady ‘wins’ the race.
Incorrect: Rice and curry ‘are’ my only food.
Correct: Rice and curry ‘is’ my only food.
8. And দ্বারা যুক্ত Subject গুলোর পূর্বে each,every,no ইত্যাদি থাকলে verb সর্বদা singular হয়। যেমনঃ
Incorrect: Each boy and each girl were active.
Correct: Each boy and each girl was active.
Incorrect: No man and no woman were there.
Correct: No man and no woman was there.
9. One of , each of,none of ইত্যাদি পরে noun টি plural হলেও Verb Singular হয়। যেমনঃ
Incorrect: Each of the boys have a pen .
Correct: Each of the boys has a pen.
Incorrect: One of the boys are absent .
Correct: One of the boys is absent.
10 . Either or, neither nor,but also দ্বারা গঠিত বাক্যে verb তার নিকটবর্তী subject অনুযায়ী হয়। যেমনঃ
Incorrect: Either Rahim or his brother ‘are’ present.
Correct: Neither he nor his sons ‘is’ present.
11. Nobody,no one, nothing, neither প্রভৃতি Subject হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হলে এগুলোর পর verb Singular হয়। যেমনঃ
Incorrect: Nobody ‘want’ to die.
Correct: Nobody ‘wants’ to die.
Incorrect: No one ‘were’ present there.
Correct: No one was present there.
12. Collective Noun গুলো সাধারনত Singular এবং এদের পরে verb singular হয়। যেমনঃ
Incorrect: The jury ‘were’ unanimous in his opinion.
Correct: The jury ‘was’ unanimous in his opinion.
13. কোনো Sentence এর Introductory ‘there’ এর পর verb পরবর্তী noun অনুযায়ী Singular বা Plural হয়। যেমনঃ
Incorrect: There ‘be’ a high school in our village.
Correct: There ‘is’ a high school in our village.
Incorrect: There ‘be’ two high schools in our village.
Correct: There ‘are’ two high schools in our village
